A. Releasing
Releasing in module three is important and I hope you all spend at last a few days on this topic in the program. What is really cool about this is that you can learn to release feelings which come from thoughts. You don't have to get rid of the thought necessarily but you can release the feelings associated with it. In fact, when you invite the thought that you have been pushing into the back of your mind and you let it come forward and just let it be with you for a little while it is good. Then you can use the steps to let the feeling go.
Let's practice gain here. Take a nice deep breath and relax your muscles. Always remember you are safe right now.
I'll give you a new situation and you can practice the steps that I'll list again here. Let's use the scenario that you got picked on in grade school for having yellow shoes. The kids made you feel so horrible that you ran home crying. You have never forgotten how cruel those kids were that day but you hardly think about now that you are an adult. But every time you see the color yellow on a pair of shoes that memory creeps up toward the front of your mind until you quickly send it flying to the back again. That old memory is still there sitting in the back of you mind taking up wonderful space. Now we will try to release the feelings associated with that memory and let it be gone.
Step One - Think of the memory of the kids picking on you for having yellow shoes. Can you feel the memory in the present moment? How do you feel about it RIGHT NOW?
Step Two - Can you allow the feelings you felt with the kids to be here now with you? Can you allow it to be here?
Step Three - Are you willing to let the feeling go that you are feeling right now in the present moment about that old memory go? Would you like to release the feelings you have now? You can ask yourself, "Would I rather have this horrible feeling or would I rather have a better feeling"?
Step Four - When? When will you be able to release the feeling?
Keep going through the steps in order until you feel the feeling going away. You are releasing, or letting go, of the feeling from the thought. You are releasing the hurt (feeling) you felt from the thought (kids picking on you).
Let me recap as I do in the program
What is your NOW feeling?
Can you welcome it/allow it to be here?
Could you let it go?
Would you let it go?
When?
How are you doing with releasing? What kind of feelings have you tried to release and did you feel a release after going through your own steps?
